CAFFCC: Itoya backs Rangers to eliminate Algerian side USM Bel-Abbes

Kevin Itoya believes his side’s CAF Confederations Cup second preliminary round clash with Algerian side USM Bel-Abbes will a tough game but he is confident that the team will do well.

After suffering a disappointing defeat to Lobi Stars in the Nigeria Super Cup, Rangers bounced back to dispatched Defence Force of Ethiopia 5-1 on aggregate to make a bold statement on their title credential this season.

However , their next opponents (USM Bel-Abbes) also thrashed LISRI of Liberia 50 on aggregate to progress to the first roundwinning 4 0 in Algeria and 1 0 in Monrovia to set up a mammoth clash.

Itoya who scored his first career continental goal against Defence Force called on Nigerians to continue backing the team for more victory.

“Going into the second round and meeting an Algerian side, it’s going to be a tough one also and we want Nigerians to rally round us with their support and prayers and I think we would get the desired result and progress to the playoff stage.”He said.

On the teams of going all the way , the former Warri Wolves midfielder said they have to wait and see.

we’ll take the games one at a time and see how it goes” Itoya concluded.

While Rangers are yet to play a game in the domestic league, same cannot be said of USAM Bel Abbes, who after playing 15 games in the Algerian League 1 are currently 14th on the table in a 16 team league winning three matches with six loses and six draws.
