Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has played down his penalty miss in Changchun Yatai’s 2-1 Chinese Super League defeat to Guangzhou R&F at the weekend, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Ighalo missed a 12th minute penalty in the loss to Guangzhou R&F as Changchun Yatai extended their winless streak to four games in the Chinese Super League.
“Things like that happen at times and you must be mentally ready to fight back” the former Watford striker told CSN.
“I didn’t believe it as well but I will make amends in our next game.”
The game was Ighalo’s fourth in the league this season, scoring just one goal so far.
Changchun Yatai will face Hebbe CFFC in their next game away on Saturday
Ighalo’s side are now 15th in the 16-team Chinese Super League table with just two points from four games.
