Dembele tweets reignite feud with new foxes boss Rodgers

While Leicester city players and fans have welcomed in their new Manager Brendan Rodgers, former manager of Liverpool. One player has expressed his reservations with several tweets.

Moussa Dembele has reignited his bitter feud with Brendan Rodgers after his old boss quit Celtic to sign a £5.5million-a-year deal at Leicester on Tuesday.

Dembele and Rodgers’s clash began last summer after Rodgers claimed Dembele only left Celtic for the money, leading to the player sending a series of furious tweets, urging Celtic fans to ‘be careful who they call their leader’, shortly before he completed his move back to France with Lyon. He was heavily abused by Celtic fans who questioned his loyalty to the club.

Six months on, Rodgers too has left Celtic – and Dembele was quick to stick the boot in on his former coach once more.

In one of his tweets, Dembele posted a video of Muhammad Ali’s legendary post-fight interview after his ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ bout with George Foreman. In the clip, Ali says: ‘Everybody stop talking now, okay, I told all of my critics, I told you all.’

Since then, Dembele has scored eight goals for Lyon in 22 appearances, while Celtic are flying high at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Dembele is not the only one to have hit out at Rodgers following the move, with Celtic legend Chris Sutton also having his say ‘Remember, this is the manager who had a pop at Moussa Dembele for making a hasty exit. It’s hypocritical, even though this has been coming since pre-season.

Rodgers received a warm reception from Leicester city supporters as he took his seat inside the King Power Stadium – just an hour after he was officially announced as the successor to Claude Puel.
