Nigeria’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying build-up starts with a friendly away to Ukraine in September, according to the country’s football federation (NFF), with former coach and member, technical committee of the NFF, Christian Chukwu urging the team and players invited to take the match seriously.
The NFF has secured a 10 September date against the Eastern Europeans as Nigeria prepare to open their Cameroon 2021 campaign against Benin in November’s Group L fixture.
Speaking with www.brila.net, Chairman Chukwu, as he is fondly called, also added that the country’s name and prestige is at stake, and as such, the players should take the match seriously, while urging the players to ensure they give their best as it is a big avenue for them to showcase their talents.
“Every game is very importatnt, friendly or no friendly, our name is at stake, Nigeria’s name is at stake so we have that prestige to protect and defend, so they should take it very seriously”.
“Am happy the new players coming in, am happy that they would show their capability and their seriousness. There is no question of relaxing or anything because that is where you showcase yourself”.
