Five women were allegedly burnt to death at Orugban community, Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State by inferno allegedly ignited by rampaging youths suspected to be natives of Egbor village in the same council area.

Recently, eight persons were reportedly killed in a communal clash between Abanwan and Orugban even as properties, farmlands, economic trees, and other valuables worth millions were destroyed.

Their neighbouring Ekoli Edda community in Afikpo South council area of Ebonyi State was not spared as one person was killed and 25 houses razed by the angry youths.The burnt women, according to him, were hiding in their homes as they could not run away when the rampaging youths stormed their residences.

The cleric who presides over Hebron Harvest International Ministries headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand told Daily Sun that his people who visited the community from the Internally Displaced Persons’ camp found the charred remains of the deceased persons.Bishop Owali , alleged that he has been declared wanted by the security agencies for no justifiable reason.

Last Sunday, residents of the community who’re currently taking refuge in the IDP camps in Ekoli Edda in Afikpo South where they were being catered for by the council Chairman, Dr Eni Uduma Chima, protested the perceived nonchalant attitude of the Cross River State government over their plight.

The protesters armed with placards with various inscriptions, however, appealed to their state government to intervene in the matter to save their lives and properties.When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Cross River State, DSP Irene Ugbo, dismissed the allegations as baseless. She said only two persons were killed. She also denied that the cleric had been declared wanted by the police.
