Former Super Falcons coach, Edwin Okon has hailed the preparation given to the Super Falcons as the teacher set to hit France for this year’s FIFA Women’s world cup, starting next month, from their base camp in Austria.
According to him, the girls had the type of preparation he had never seen before given to any female team getting set to represent the country at international tournaments.
African champions, Super Falcons, arrived at the Avita Resort, Bad Tatzmannsdorf in Austria on Tuesday, for a two –week residential camping leading to their departure for the 8th FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in France, starting on 7th June.
The Falcons will play Norway in Reims on Saturday, 8th June in their first match of the championship.
Speaking with www.brila.net, Okon urged the NFF to sustain this type of preparation for the team, while adding that he believes they can get to at least the semi-final stage of the tournament.
“I think everyone knows the importance of preparation before the world cup and I thank God that what I have gotten from the players and some officials attached to the team is that they are happy with the preparation”.
“I can tell you that with that preparation alone, they will give their best but we need more of this because we need more from the girls”.
“The girls have been given a task that they should get to the semi-final and I don’t know how realistic that is, but since the girls, as well as the officials, are not complaining, I believe they are fully prepared for that”.
