English Championship side Stoke City have parted ways with manager Gary Rowett after a poor run of results which has left the Club in a difficult position of an immediate return to the EPL after its relegation last season.
A club statement released on Tuesday said. “Members of Gary Rowett coaching staff have also left the bet365 Stadium with immediate effect.
Rowett signed Nigeria international, Oghenekaro Etebo from Feirense of Portugal just before the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and it’s has been a difficult season for the pair as things haven’t gone as planned.
“The club would like to thank Gary and his staff for their efforts over the past eight months. A new managerial appointment will be made as swiftly as possible but in the meantime, Rory Delap, Kevin Russell and Andy Quy will take charge of first-team affairs.”
There were was a protests against the manager by the Potters faithful during last week’s 2-0 home loss to Bristol City, in which a “Rowett Out” banner was on display, before the board decided to take a decision after 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury in the FA Cup on Sunday, when Stoke supporters’ frustration reached breaking point.
