Liverpool and Egypt forward, Mohammed Salah says he’s delighted to have won the 2018 CAF Africa Player for the second successive year running.
The Egyptian talisman scored 44 goals across all competitions to help Liverpool Champions League final last season, helped the Club to the top of the Premier league table this season and scoring twice at 2018 World Cup before helping the Pharaohs qualified for 2019 AFCON.
The year also saw the former AS Roma of forward retaining his BBC African Player of the year crown, won Premier League Player of the Year and was ranked high in Goal 50, named in Fifa Best Awards and Ballon d’Or top three players to wrap up a remarkable year.
The 26-year-old saw off challenges from Arsenal rival Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane to claim the prestigious award at Tuesday’s ceremony in Dakar, Senegal on Tuesday.
“As a child l have always dreamt of a day like this and l am happy that it has come to pass,” said Salah after he was presented with the award by Liberia President and ex-footballer, George Weah.
Salah has now joined the likes of El Hadji Diouf, Samuel Eto’o, Yaya Toure to win the award back to back.
