Falcons assistant coach Madu expresses team’s delight after waiting period tension

Assistant coach of Nigeria’s women national team Mauren Madu has expressed the team’s delight at finally getting the breakthrough to the next round at the ongoing FIFA women’s world cup in France after a dramatic final group stage games in group E and F handed the Super Falcons the fourth and finally third place ticket to qualify as the 16th of the 16 teams in the round of 16.
An excited Madu speaking in a chat with www.brila.net couldn’t hide her joy and said it was divinely orchestrated by God for the team to have secured qualification after a very nervous wait by the team on their tournament status days after playing her final group stage tie which ended in a 1-0 defeat against host nation France.
“We are very happy and grateful to God. We thank Nigerians for the support and happy to have made it. We were very nervous waiting and hoping and we prayed to God and he did it for us eventually. We are so happy.”
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will on Saturday take on Germany in the first round of 16 tie in Grenoble, France.
