FIBA World Cup: Russia defeats Nigeria 82-77 in Group B opener

Nigeria lost its opening game of the FIBA World Cup, falling 82-77 points to Russia in their Group B clash at the Wuhan Arena.

Guard Josh Okogie scored a game high 18 points, but his effort wasn’t enough to lift D’Tigers.

Six players finished with double figure points, and despite edging Russia in the rebounds, Alex Nwora’s men were punished more from turnovers.

Nigeria enjoyed a marginal dominance in the stats sheet, but it counted for little as the now faces an upheaval task.

The team next face Argentina.
