FIFA U-20 World Cup: Nigeria to face U.S.A, Ukraine, and Qatar in Group D

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria has been placed in group D of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup In Poland, they were paired alongside U.S.A, Qatar, and Ukraine.

The draw which took place on Sunday afternoon will see Paul Aigbogun’s Boys begin their adventure on Friday 24th of May against Asian side Qatar, before taking on United States of America(U.S.A) on Monday 27th of May and with last Group game against Ukraine slated for Thursday, May 30th.

 

The seven-time African Champions finished fourth at just concluded 2019 U-20 AFCON in Niamey Niger Republic to qualify for World Cup but it was a performance that left the country demanding for a drastic improvement if they are to give a good account of themselves at the World stage.

 

Other African representatives; Senegal, Mali and South Africa are also up for intriguing ties.

 

Senegal was drawn against the hosts Nation Poland, Colombia, Tahiti and in Group A, while  South Africa will lurk horns with   Portugal, Korea Rep, and Argentina in Group F.

 

African Champions Mali will face  France, Panama and Saudi-Arabia in Group E.

 

The tournament will kick-off on 23 May to 15 June with at least seven matches to be played in each of the six host cities.

 

Ghana became the only African Nation who has won the tournament back in 2009 at the Cairo International Stadium, Cairo, Egypt after defeating Brazil 4-3 on Penalties when the match ended (0-0) After Extra Time.
