Finidi George gets Super Eagles job

The Nigeria Football Federation has approved the recommendation of it’s Technical and Development Committee to appoint former Super Eagles midfielder Finidi George as assistant to the new Men’s National team Coach.

Finidi will work as one of three Assistants appointed by the NFF, the others are Salisu Yusuf, Usman Abdallah and returnee Goalkeeper trainer Ike Shorounmu.

The NFF confirmed this appointments on Thursday.

Salisu, who is also the Super Eagles B head Coach was a member of the recently sacked Technical crew of the Eagles that failed to qualify for the World Cup.

He has been named 1st Assistant, while Finidi George will be 2nd Assistant with Usman Abdallah as 3rd Assistant.

Eboboritse Uwejamomere will be the Match Analyst and Ike Shorunmu, who worked with the Super Eagles at the 2013 AFCON replaces Alloy Agu as goalkeepers’ trainer.

According to the NFF, “a new head coach, for the Super Eagles will be announced and officially unveiled once the processes for his engagement and contract-signing are concluded.”

The new Super Eagles coach is expected to be announced next week.

Lauren Blanc, Anthony Conceicao, Ernesto Valverde and Jose Peseiro have reportedly been shortlisted for the position.
