Nigerian Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games, boxer David Defiagbon was declared dead in Las Vegas United States last Saturday.
The boxer was said to have died of heart complication in Las Vegas United State of America, having had the history of drugs and alcohol.
The death of the 48-year Edo-born boxer, was announced by trainer Montell Griffin, who trained with via his Facebook account.
Mandy Evans, who has a daughter with Defiagbon, confirmed the boxer died last Saturday while revealing that a service has been scheduled for Dec. 8 in Las Vegas.
Former coach Wayne Gordon said he was supposed to meet up with in Las Vegas in May of 2017, but after arriving in Nevada, couldn’t reach the fighter.
“He had told me before that his life was not the best,” Gordon said. “He got involved in drugs and alcohol and the nightlife where he was working as security guard. But the last time I talked to him, everything was sort of good.
He said, ‘I got my life straightened out, I’m not drinking anymore, the party scene is behind me.’ I couldn’t wait to see him.”
After switching allegiance to Canada , Defiagbon won silver medal in the Atlanta Games in 1996′
