Government should enforce the law on traffic on Tanker drivers

There is serious public outcry over the state of the Mile-Apapa road
,Oshodi-Apapa and Western Avenue to Apapa roads as Tanker drivers park
indiscriminately on the roads.

The worst of it all is how the drivers park on Bridges. Lagos State
government in conjunction with the Army last week issued a 24 hours
ultimatum for the drivers to remove their vehicles on the Bridges across
the state.

However, the ultimatum has just ended, but when our Reporters visited the
areas, vehicles were still parked on to of the Bridges.
A tanker driver,Joshak Mali ,said,” The ultimatum is just a verbal joke. The
government has refused to face reality.Where do they want us to park?If the
government is serious,it should provide us a parking space. The problem is
that the roads are bad and the government has refused to repair the
roads.

If the roads are fixed,we won’t have any reason of parking on the
bridges. More so,if we have been provided with parking space where we will
pay,I swear,we won’t park on bridges.

“The government should face reality and do the needful by putting the roads
on order .The government and the military know they can’t do anything to
us.If they try to bully us,we will resist them with everything available to
us.We will block the roads with our trucks. You know what we can do”.

Mali’s expression is the response from all the drivers.John Oguche,on the
Berger bridge, near Kirikiri, said that no force would withstand the wrath of
truck drivers,” you should not expect us to move out like that.We are no
babies. We should be carried along. We were not involved before the took
decision on their own.If we had been invited, we would have been able to
give them advise .Anyway, we have no alternative than to remain where we
are until the government provide us with alternative parking space
