The Garrison Commander of 33 Artillery Brigade Command, Colonel Mohammed Barack, has been killed by gunmen along Magama Gumau Road in Bauchi State.
The incident occurred on Sunday night when the victim’s power bike developed a fault while he was returning to Bauchi from Kaduna.
Director, public relations office of the command, declined to make any comment concerning the attack, but a top officer of the brigade, who craved anonymity, confirmed the incident.
The attack is believed to have been carried out by bandits, although investigation surrounding the circumstances of the colonel’s death is still underway.
It was gathered that a military delegation from Bauchi is already on its way to Kano for the funeral.
Meanwhile, there is calm in Bauchi State following the incident.
