Harvest of arrests as police recover 60 rounds of ammunition in Delta

Delta State Police Command has raided criminal hideouts in different locations of the state where they arrested some suspects, recovered assorted arms and 60 rounds of ammunition.
Among the suspects, were armed robbers, cultists, and kidnappers.

The State Police Spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, who gave a graphic account on how the arrests and recoveries were made, explained that;” On October, 24, DPO Ufuoma Division, received a distressed call from ufuoma vigilante that there was a cult clash between Aiye and Aro beggar cult group in Ufuoma Community. The DPO immediately led patrol teams to the scene, the cultists on sighting the police took to their heels, but one Happy Ighorowhodje,32, of Aiye cult group who had been injured with a machete was arrested and one locally-made revolver pistol with five rounds of live ammunition was recovered from him. He was taken to General Hospital Ughelli where he was treated and discharged. The suspect and exhibit are in custody while a manhunt for fleeing suspects is ongoing.

“On October 21, at about 9:am Dragon Patrol team 29 while on stop and search duty along Warri-Sapele road by Mercy City Effurun, intercepted one silver-colored commuter Toyota picnic space bus with number plate: LSD 324 DO heading from Warri to Sapele. Upon search of the vehicle and occupants, 60 rounds of 7.62mm Ak47 live ammunition, concealed inside a pair of canvas shoes was recovered from one of the passengers Patrick Anthony, 36, of Arunton quarters Escravos. Investigation is ongoing

“On the same day, the Command raider operatives in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police Delta state, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, raided black spots at Abraka axis in Asaba. During the raid, four suspects: a female Blessing Oghule, Nweke Abudi, Ebuka Paul, and Sunday Inuse, were arrested. One English Beretta pistol with five live 9mm ammunition, five suspected stolen phones, one handbag containing weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, one nylon bag, containing substances suspected to be ice, and 10 wraps of substances suspected to be cocaine was recovered from Blessing Oghule.

” On the previous day, operatives of the Command Anti-cult unit (SACU), acting on a tip-off stormed Obiaruku in Ukwuani LGA and raided a suspected cultist’s hideout. During the raid, seven suspects were arrested and one locally made short gun, one battle axe, cutlass, knife, and charms were recovered from them. Suspects and exhibits are in custody while the investigation is ongoing”.
