Home based basketball players are doomed with national team roles – Abdulrahman

Former assistant coach of Nigeria’s men basketball national team D’Tigers Mohammed Abdulrahman has stated that there is no hope in the immediate future for any player within the domestic league to make the senior men basketball national team to the 2021 Olympics or any major tournament in basketball.
Abdulrahman speaking in a chat with www.Cornerstonenewsng.comsaid there is no plan by the Federation to enhance what may have been the only opportunity for domestic players to play by way of playing league basketball regularly and the low quality also mean there is no way a domestic league player make the cut to play in the team ahead of a foreigner.
“I stand to be corrected even if they take it to 2040 I don’t see any home based player making the team to the Olympics.
From the way things are going, I don’t think anybody in the Federation or from the coaching line has any plan for any local player.
I doubt it, even if we are playing the league with all the Coronavirus thing going on, I don’t see any player. They might arrange a camp and hand pick some players that they think are good enough to starts the preparation.”
