How Australia brought Eaglets down to earth in Brasilia

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets surrendered their 100 percent winning records at the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil after they were beaten 2-1 by Australia in the last Group B match on Friday.

Nigeria went into the clash at the Estadio Bezerrão, Brasilia on Friday with six maximum points from previous two game played and needed at least a draw to be finished as the Group.

However, It was the Aussies who went on to record their first of the competition and also first win over the Eaglets after seven meetings at this stage.

Australia took the lead in the 14th minute courtesy of Noah Botic after a quick counter-attack.

Olawale restored parity for Nigeria in the 21st minute and set Nigeria for another impressive come back.

Australians regained the lead after Romanian referee Istvan Kovacs awarded them a penalty which Botic converted for his brace.

The Eaglets tried to level things but the Australian held on to secure their first victory of the tournament.
