The Delta State Police command has arrested a 26 years old man for the alleged murder of another man who accused him of attempting to defile his underaged daughter at Otu-Jeremi community in Ughelli South local government area.

The suspect, Paul Ogilo told the police that he stabbed Twere Shipiode in the neck with a kitchen knife during a fisticuff when Shipiode caught him in his house and accused him of trying to defile his daughter.

Delta State Police public relations officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who gave a graphic account on how the suspect was nabbed, said,”On January 12, Divisional Police Officer, Otu-Jeremi Division, received a distress call that a man was stabbed to death. The DPO mobilized and led police patrol teams to the scene. At the scene, the lifeless body of the man was seen in the pool of his own blood and the house deserted.
“Investigation revealed that there was an altercation between the deceased, Shipiode,29, and Paul Ogilo,26. Upon an intelligence-led investigation, the suspect was trailed to an uncompleted building in Otu-Jeremi where he was seen with a kitchen knife suspected to have been used in committing the crime and he was immediately arrested. Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted committing the dastardly act.

“He further stated that a fight ensued between him and the deceased after the deceased found him in his house and accused him of attempting to defile his daughter. He stated that during the fight, he used the kitchen knife to stab the suspect in the neck. The suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing”

Edafe said in another development, operatives attached to the Command Raiders Unit, raided a black spot at Ogarafe, Oghara in Ethiope West LGA, during which 20 suspected cultists were arrested and a fabricated wooden gun, 648 Six wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, one used female pant, various charms, one Knife, 16 bottles of codeine, 10 packs of razors, one Grinder used in grinding weeds and the sum of N69,000 were recovered. The investigation is ongoing”.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ari Muhammed Ali has mandated all Area Commanders, DPOS, Tactical Commanders to sustain this tempo and ensure that continuous raids of black spots are carried out within their area of responsibility. The CP also urged parents and guardians to caution their wards to desist from buying, selling, or taking hard drugs as whoever is caught would be arrested and prosecuted.
