Abia Warriors player, Adebayo Abiodun has revealed that the fear of being relegated spurred his side to get a win away to Heartland FC at the Okigwe Township Stadium.
Speaking with brila.net, Adebayo noted that they never really expected a 4-2 margin but they just wanted to get all 3 points to fight against relegation.
“It was awesome. Though we didn’t expect to score so much, we knew that we needed to win because if we didn’t it would have led to automatic relegation. Thank God with hard work and dedication, we got a victory.”
Abia Warriors lie dangerously on the 10th spot in group B of the NPFL and would need to win their remaining 3 fixtures while hoping teams above them slip up.
