Odion Ighalo has revealed that Super Eagles handler Gernot Rohr and Nigeria Football Federation boss, Amaju Pinnick congratulated him after extending his contract with Manchester United.
Ighalo signed a new six loan deal with Manchester United earlier this week after his previous agreement expired on May 31st.
The new deal will, therefore, keep the 30-year-old former Nigeria international and Udinese striker at Old Trafford until January 2020.
While speaking to www.Cornerstonenewsng.comon Thursday, an elated Igho said, he has received positive messages from several people after signing the deal, including the coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr and NFF, Amaju Pinnick.
He continued that the Franco-German tactician wants him to rescind his decision and make himself available for selection again, five months after his retirement.
“I am still in contact with the National team coach, Gernot Rohr, he sent me a congratulatory message after the extension, told me the door was still open and that he knows I have a lot to offer the team, help groom the young lads and all that. The NFF President, Amaju Pinnick also contacted me but I’m still thinking about it.”
Ighalo concluded that he left the national team because of travel difficulties.
“But for now, I want to enjoy my club football, you know. Why I stopped then was because of the traveling difficulties because the journey was too long for me because of my age.” He told www.brila.net.
