‘It all Started in Secondary School,’ Africa’s Top Basketball Referee, Kingsley Ojeaburu

Nigeria’s highest ranked Basketball Referee Kingsley Ojeaburu has paid his dues in full and the reward is his return to the biggest stages in international basketball tournaments.

Ojeaburu will officiate in the final four of the ABL before proceeding to the U19 Boys World Cup and in China where he has been listed as one of only three Africans for the World Cup.

In a chat with Cornerstonenewsng.comOjeaburu said the foundation was laid as way back as 1994, when he was a secondary school student.

“It takes a lot of hard work. I’ve been into this for a while; started off since 1994, when I was in secondary school,” he explained with deep satisfaction.

“For the world cup qualifiers that were held, we had instructors from Europe, and out of the five windows I went for four; I turned down the first one because of work.

“The other four windows I had three different instructors and they all had the observations, comments and this is the result.”
