Super Falcons Captain Onome Ebi says she’s delighted to be named Nigeria women’s player for the year 2018.
The experience Chinese based defender saw off the challenge from FC Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala and Shanghai Shengli Football Club forward Francisca Ordega to win the top prize at the award ceremony in Eko Hotel and Suites on Monday.
“It’s really an honour to have received this award and I feel blessed when I look back to 2016 when I had an injury that I thought I’ll recover from. I put in a lot of hard work, I had the belief that I could come back stronger than ever.”
“Today I’m grateful to God for showing me that through trying times, there are always brighter days.” She wrote on her social media handle.
The former Minsk of Belarus defender, however, thanked everyone who had supported her career and promises them to always give her best for the Super Falcons of Nigeria.
“I’m thankful to the @nffofficial @aiteogrp journalists and media houses for recognizing our achievements.”

“The fans are integral to the game. They have always shown me the support that has driven me to perform at the highest level for so long.” She concluded.
Onome Ebi is expected to lead the Super Falcons to glory at the upcoming 2019 Women’s World Cup in France later this year.
