Junior Lokosa Remarks Historic CAF CL Victory with Esperance

A champions League winner’s medal in a debut season is a feat that hardly goes unnoticed, one which Junior Lokosa admits is a rewarding experience with Esperance de Tunis.

Albeit in controversial circumstances, Esperance successfully defended the CAF CL following a 2-1 aggregate win over Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca.

With tempers at tenterhooks, while Esperance led 1-0 at the Stade Olympique de Radès, Wydad felt hard done when what seemed a legitimate goal was chalked off for offside.

The visitors staged a walk-out protest and the game was awarded to the hosts.

Despite the manner of the victory, a gleeful Lokosa refused to be robbed of the excitement and admits “I’m glad to be part of this success’.

‘I feel so happy about winning my first major trophy,’ Lokosa told brila.net.

‘About Esperance defending the title, I will say we gave a great performance. It wasn’t easy at all especially from the quarter-final stage against Constantine and the toughest side we played was TP Mazembe before we faced Wydad.

‘I’m glad to be part of the team that successfully defended the title.’

Esperance became only the fourth team in the history of the competition to win the title back to back, joining the likes of TP Mazembe, Al Ahly and Enyimba FC.
