Lobi Stars set to break five year NPFL jinx

The NPFL Super 6 will get underway Today, with the best six teams jostling for the league title and for spots in next season’s CAF Club competitions, and while it will prove to be very competitive, Lobi Stars defender Ebube Duru is confident the holders can successfully defend the title.
With the opening day fixture against FC IfeanyiUbah, Duru is all to aware no team has won the league title back to back since 2014, but things can change he told brila.net.
‘Things are meant to change. Yes no team has defended the league title for some years now, but no Nigerian side managed to reach the Champions league group stage for some time until we did last season.
‘It’s a great challenge and we realize it, so we will work to break that yoke,’ Duru enthused.
It’s been five seasons since any team successfully defended the league; Pillars won their third successive league crown.
