Mainz loan good for Awoniyi – Chukwu Ndukwe

With Nigerian striker and former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles frontman, Taiwo Awoniyi, confirming his 6th loan spell to German club Mainz O5 in the German Bundesliga from parent club, Liverpool, former Eagles striker and ex-international, Rafael Chukwu Ndukwe has termed it as a good development for the striker, whom he says still has time and age on his side.

According to the Reds, Awoniyi will remain with Jurgen Klopp’s former team for the duration of the 2019-20 campaign after the transfer was agreed on Tuesday.

Before his move to the German outfit, he has enjoyed loan spells with FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen, Royal Excel Mouscron twice, and KAA Gent.

Speaking with www.brila.net, Ndukwe added that it would be counter-productive for Awoniyi to remain and play just a handful of matches, while the loan stint would help him in terms of experience before coming back to play for Liverpool.

“Going out on loan will really help him because it won’t be wise for him to remain at Liverpool and make just one appearance or whatever”.

“He is still young so for them sending him on loan, they just want him to get more match experience so when he gets to the ripe age, he will surely play for Liverpool’.

‘I don’t think it’s a bad idea, it’s very good. He is a good striker and I like him. If he stays at Liverpool and make just a couple of appearances, it won’t be a good one and training with the team isn’t actually the best thing. It’s the games you play that will help us career”.
