Mikel, Etebo and Ajayi overlooked in PFA Championship team of the year

Nigeria trio of John Mikel Obi, Semi Ajayi, and Oghenekaro Etebo were overlooked from the PFA Championship team of the season despite some impressive performances for their respective clubs.

Obi joined Middlesbrough in January has been instrumental in Tony Pulis’s side contesting for a playoff spot and has captained the Club to three consecutive wins to end their eight games winless run.

 

Etebo plays for Stoke City and has been prominent, scoring two goals to his name and also helped the Potters to retain their league status.

 

On his part, Semi Ajayi of Rotherham United who won the Championship player of the month award for March was also committed.

 

In the absence of the trio,  Aston Villa forward, Tammy Abraham was listed following his feat of 25 goals for the Club.
