New boss Luis Cembranos explains Omeruo’s omission from Leganes squad

CD Leganes new gaffer Luis Cembranos has explained his decision to leave out Kenneth Omeruo from the team’s clash with RCD Mallorca on Saturday.

Omeruo was missing from the squad that secured Leganes first win of the season at Municipal de Butarque, with his compatriot Awaziem coming off the bench to help the team after Dimitrios Siovas was substituted due to injury.

Luis Cembranos opted for two central defenders , unlike his predecessor Mauricio Pellegrino who fancied playing with three central defenders.

Omeruo and Moroccan Youssef En-Nesyri were the major casualties in Cembranos’ tactical switch and the coached confirmed he went into the clash with the players that fit his game plan .

”I have chosen the best eighteen. It wasn’t just the physical, the technical and the tactical. It was also the mental.

”I have tried to select the best to compete and suffer today, to be closer to getting a victory.

“We have taken a step forward, convincing ourselves, believing a little more in what we are doing. It is an important turning point to continue growing as a team. Let’s see where we get.”

However going by the decision of the new Coach, Chidozie Awaziem, is now ahead Kenneth Omeruo in the pecking order and he’s likely to feature against  Real Madrid on Wednesday.
