NFF Foundation will give our players quality life after retirement – Pinnick

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Melvin Pinnick has declared that the proposed NFF Foundation would put an end to the sad tales of the sufferings former Nigerian players go through after active football while shedding more light on how the foundation would operate and the motive behind setting it up.

Speaking with brila.net, Pinnick noted that the foundation would cater for the overall welfare of Nigerian footballers especially after their retirement and it is not limited to when they have health issues but would serve as a channel to train such players to do other things when they are done with active football.
“It is something we are very keen on. It is a seven-member committee and before the close of next week, the whole details on the foundation will be revealed to all.
The members that will be announced are credible Nigerians that have their own appreciable level of autonomy too…We aim to achieve with this foundation is not basically to look at players where they are in a dire state but to create something that will prepare even the current players for the future.
Regardless of if they play for Kaduna United, Gateway FC, or Kano Pillars they can start to take charge of their future and even when they are no longer playing. The educated once can even be trained in punditry and so on”, he summed up.
Pinnick had during the NFF Awards held on April 1, 2019, announced to those in attendance that the NFF Foundation that would be a special project to cater for the welfare of Nigerian players was in the works, on a night where members of the Golden 1994 Super Eagles squad were honoured.
