NFF, Players celebrate Super Falcons captain Chikwelu at 31

The Nigeria football federation (NFF), Super Falcons players and fans have taken turns on social media to celebrate Captain of the Nigerian Super Falcons, Rita Chikwelu as she celebrates her birthday.

 

The Super Falcons skipper now 31 years old, is not thinking of slowing down, ahead of the Allsvenskan League,  set to resume on the 14th April 2019, she said her dreams is to help her Swedish top-flight side to challenge for a silverware this season. A feat they are yet to attain in their history. In 2018, she scored 5 goals from 22 appearances in the league.

 

Rita Chikwelu made her senior national team debut in 2007 at the FIFA women’s World Cup. She was a member of the Nigerian Olympic team which participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics in China and a member of the Nigerian squad in the 2011 FIFA women’s World Cup. Rita Chikwelu is currently with Swedish Damallsvenskan club Kristianstads DFF.

 

Ruth David, Francesca Ordega and Asisat Oshoala were some players who shared their thoughts online, the Falcons players gave Rita Chikwelu a bath, a birthday ritual by the beach.

 

Francesca Ordega in an instagram post tagged “Happy birthday the skippo/uncle Riri…Be happy cos today is the day you were brought into this world to be a blessing and inspiration to the people around you, You are a wonderful person. May you be given more birthdays to fulfill all of your dreams….”

 

Rita Chikwelu has been lined up as a substitute in the starting XI released by the Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby in today’s game against Thailand.

 

A win in the game against Thailand will the perfect birthday gift for Rita Chikwelu, as results have not gone the way of the super falcons so far in the Cyprus Cup tournament.
