Nigerian Prospect Talks About His Experience With The National U17 And Career Aspirations

Boluwatife Linus is a promising young Nigerian football prospect currently honing his skills with Lagos based football academy Broad City FC.

If not for a failed MRI scan test, Linus would well have turned out for the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria in the just concluded 2021 WAFU B U17 tournament held in Togo.

In an exclusive interview with Sports247, Linus shared his experiences with the Nigerian U17 team, talked about coach Fatai Amoo and his career ambitions.

His experience on the camp.

“It was good exposure for me. Every footballer my age wants to make it abroad and play in the international stage.” Linus told Sports247.ng.

“Unfortunately I couldn’t pass the MRI scan. But we don’t stop there, we keep going. It was a good experience for me all in.” he affirmed.

Linus had nothing but positive words for Fatai Amoo, the national U17 gaffer.

“Coach Fatai Amoo, I think of all the coaches I have played under, he’s a very tactical coach. I like his idea of football.

“He likes to play on the front foot, he likes players who think and players who are quick. I think he is a good grassroots coach.”

Undeterred by his expulsion from the U17 camp, the playmaker is looking ahead to the next grade. The U20 level.

“Yeah, hopefully. We are looking forward. If the U17 couldn’t work out we will look forward to U20.” Linus said.

When asked about his targets for the future as a footballer, the youngster made known that he aims for the top and wants to represent his country too.

“As a player, I want to play professionally in the best leagues abroad and represent Nigeria with the national team.”

What about the Nigerian league?

“The Nigerian league to me is not where I want to play. I mean it’s a good start if I get to play in a team in Nigeria my country but everybody wants to play on the biggest stage. So I want to play in Europe and be seen by the whole world.”

“Yeah we know our league is on TV but every player aims for the highest stage. And I want to go to the top of the game so I want to play in Europe.”
