Nkiyu goes spiritual amid tide of deaths in NPFL

Nasarawa united FC Bala Nkiyu coach has prayed that God help stem the spate of deaths experienced in Nigerian league football over the past couple of weeks with deaths claiming the lives of Tiamiyu Kazeem of Remo stars, Chineme Martins of Nasarawa united, an academy player in Keffi in the lower league and now Ifeanyi George of Enugu Rangers within one month.

Nkiyu speaking in a chat with brila.net said the sad occurrences can adversely affect the psyche of players in the local league and prays that God Almighty help put a stop to all of these unpalatable incidents.
He added that it was tough getting players of Nasarawa united to play the last game played against Plateau united after Martins death.
“These things can seriously derail players, it took us a lot of talk before our players managed to play Plateau united, I know how terrible it is. For players to just lose one of them suddenly like this.
“When this thing happened to us, all our players were down casted, everybody was like what if it was me. After we lost Martins, two days later one Academy lost a player in Keffi too, so I don’t really know. God will help us.”
