Norway-Based Afeez Aremu gets Flying Eagles Call-up

IK Start of Norway midfielder, Afeez Aremu, has been handed a late call-up to the Flying Eagles team ahead of Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations second leg qualifier against Mauritania.

Aremu played for the Eagles ‘B’ in the qualifiers for the 2018 CHAN and at the WAFU Cup of Nations in Ghana in September 2017, but traveled to Norway before the CHAN finals in Morocco.

The 18-year-old defensive midfielder who has trained twice with the team in Lagos is in line to make his debut for the team against Mauritania on Saturday.

Aremu has scored three goals in 18 league games for his Norwegian side, IK Start since joining the club in March.

The first leg in Mauritania ended 1-1 a week ago with the overall winners after Saturday’s game advancing to the final tournament in Niger next year.
