The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspected notorious Cultist on his way to launch an attack on a community.
The suspect described by the police as a member of the dreaded Eiye confraternity, Olamide Olabode was arrested while leading other members of his gang at Oke-iganmu area of Ilaro/Papalanto road.
According to the police, luck ran out for the suspect while a patrol team from the Ilaro division was on routine duty in the area.
The suspect in company with his two others was accosted by the police while on a Bajaj motorcycle.
Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, “the suspect, who was sitting at the back quickly jumped down from the motorcycle and ran into the bush with a bag. He was hotly chased and arrested, while the other two sped off on the motorcycle.
“On searching the bag with him, two locally made short guns, four live cartridges, one knife, and weeds, suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from the bag.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a leading member of the Eiye cult group, and that they were heading to Agodo village for an operation”.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect should be transferred to anti cultist unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
