NPFL: Lobi Seek To Stay Top As Plateau, Enyimba Face Tricky Trips

Lobi Stars will look to maintain top spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League when they take on Rivers United in a matchday 14 fixture at the Aper Aku Stadium on Sunday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The Makurdi cclub’s four-game unbeaten run was ended last weekend by Nasarawa United who handed them a 2-1 defeat in Lafia.

With only two points separating them and second placed Kano Pillars on the log, Lobi need to win the game to be sure of staying in first position.

Second-placed Kano Pillars will be up against Kwara United in Ilorin.

The Sai Masu Gida missed the chance to secure top spot after they could only draw against Nasarawa United on Monday.

They will bank on their leading marksman Junior Lokosa who has already netted 11 times this season to deliver the goods once again.

Champions Plateau United will be up against FC IfeanyiUbah in Nnewi.

The Jos club will be out to avoid another defeat following Thurday’s shock 1-0 loss against Go Round FC in Omoku.

In Damaturu, Yobe Desert Stars will be out to maintain their perfect home record when they do battle with former champions Enyimba.

The modest Yobe side are yet to drop points at home in the NPFL this season and also yet to concede a goal.

Akwa United will welcome Abia Warriors to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo in another match day 14 fixture, while Heartland will be at home to Nasarawa United.

In Omoku, Go Round have another chance to boost their survival hopes when they host seven-time champions Enugu Rangers.

Ngozi Elechi’s side beat champions Plateau United in a rescheduled match 10 game on Thursday and head into the game in confident mood.

The ‘Soccer Temple’ Agege Stadium is the venue of the game MFM FC and Katsina United.

The encounter will be the Olukoya Boys’ first game since their 6-0 battering at the hands of Algeria’s MC Alger in the CAF Champions League.

The last fixture for the weekend is the northern derby between Wikki Tourists and El-Kanemi Warriors.
