Nwakaeme not desperate to make Eagles AFCON squad

Trabzonspor of Turkey hitman Anthony Nuatuzor Nwakaeme has revealed that he is not looking at making the Super Eagles team to the AFCON 2019 in Egypt as a competition while stating that he would gladly wish anyone who is selected as well as the entire country all the best.

Nwakaeme inspired Trabzonspor to a 2-1 comeback victory over Yeni Malatyaspor in Saturday’s Turkish Super Lig game.

The Nigeria international canceled out Omer Sismanoglu’s 22nd-minute effort with an assist from Abdulkadir Parmak.

The Black Sea Storm capitalized on their numerical advantage as Nwakaeme’s pass found Hugo Rodallega three minutes later for the match-winner.

The Nigeria striker featured for the full duration of the game to help Trabzonspor extend their winning run to five games.

Speaking with www.brila.net, Nwakaeme added that he will just keep doing his best like every other Nigerian player.

For me, I don’t really see it as a competition, anywhere I see myself, even if it’s outside the team, I wish them all the best.

“At the end of the day, any of the players invited and selected, we are all helping the nation, so I will continue to give my best just like every other Nigerian player”, he concluded.

Nwakaeme, who has 10 goals in 22 league games, will hope to be part of Super Eagles squad to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Gernot Rohr’s men kick-start their Group B campaign against Burundi on June 22 and take on Guinea four days later before they slug it out with Madagascar on June 30.
