NWFL, La Liga Begin Collaborative deal to develop Women’s Football

Preliminary talks between Spanish elite football division, LaLiga Satander and the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) which aims at initiating collaboration between both parties has started.

The meeting took place at the La Liga Spanish Capital Madrid and had representatives of both parties present.

 

The Head of La Liga women’s football, Pedro Malabia; Director of the LaLiga office in Nigeria, Javier del Rio represented the Spanish football.

While Chairperson of the Nigeria Women football league , Aisha Falode and The Director of Commercial and Corporate Strategy Director of the NWFL, Timothy Timisire was there on behalf of Nigeria Football.

 

The meeting was in accordance to the agreement both parties reached last February in order to establish a better understanding of how the Spanish football authority is developing female football in their Country, as well as to learn about the development and future of the women’s competition in West African Country.

 

Other key issues on the discussed at the meeting includes the aspect of initiatives targeted at raising visibility, marketing strategies and economic growth targets.

 

The Nigeria representatives also expressed interest in learning the structures of the Liga Iberdrola clubs, for which Pablo Mantilla, director of the Valencia Foundation, and Marina Gassent, coordinator of the women’s section of Valencia CF were also took part in the meeting.

 

The February agreements, focuses on the notions of promoting female football in Spain and Nigeria through the exchange of marketing intelligence idea along with strategies and the implementation of actions devised to boost visibility and awareness.

 

The issue of Women’s access to sports management, cooperation in the development and implementation of corporate social responsibility actions that promote gender equality and the integration of women not only in football was also critically discussed.

 

The signing of this memorandum shows the commitment of both parties towards maintaining and enhancing the sustainable development and growth of women’s football both in Spain and in Nigeria.
