Odion Ighalo says playing for Manchester United remain the biggest achievement of his career and has no regret over turning down the new contract from Shanghai Shenhua.
Ighalo made the headline during the week after extending his loan deal to the premier league giants for another six months, following the expiration of the initial six-month loan deal.
While speaking exclusively to www.Cornerstonenewsng.comon the loan extension, the 30-year-old forward said he is delighted to remain at his childhood club for another six months.
Ighalo who has played at the FIFA World Cup won the golden boot and bronze medal at the African cup of Nations, Ighalo, also added that playing for United remains his biggest achievement in football.
“I feel great and I thank God for that because not all dreams come to reality.” He said.
“Those that know me are aware that I’ve have been supporting Manchester United from when I was a kid, from my mum, siblings, and late sister, we all support Manchester United .”
“Playing for Manchester United is something I cannot explain and I will say it is my biggest achievement in my 15 years professional career in football.” He told www.brila.net.
Meanwhile, Ighalo’s current deal at Shenhua will expire in December 2022 and was expected to pen a new agreement that run to until the end of 2024 with £400,000 a week wages.
On why he decided to remain with United, instead of going for the new mouthwatering deal, Ighalo said staying with United for another guarantees better benefits in the future.
“Sometimes in life money is not everything, I won’t say I have enough money in my life, but God has blessed me.
“People won’t see the gains of playing for Manchester United now but after my playing, that when people will understand that’s It’s not all about taking the money for two years, yes the Shanghai Shenhua contract will give me money for two or three years, but playing for Manchester United will open doors for 20 years.” He concluded.
