Offiong Edem laments cancelation of 2020 ITTF Challenge Plus Nigeria Open

Nigeria’s Table Tennis Star, Offiong Edem is unhappy with postponement of the annual ITTF Challenge Plus Nigeria Open 2020 edition.

The organizers announced on Sunday that the event has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

 

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Local Organising Committee and the International Table Tennis Federation is sad to announce the cancellation of the 2020 edition of the Challenge Plus Nigeria Open scheduled for August 18 to 22, 2020.”

 

“The athletes’ health is always our main priority because they are the main actors. We also have to think about the safety and health of the  large numbers of fans that throng the stadium to watch the event.” Chairman of the LOC, Hon, Enitan Oshodi said.

 

While reacting to the decision of the Local Organising Committee to cancel the 2020 edition, Edem was left disappointed, but she’s already looking forward to the 2021 edition.

 

“E no go better for corona, 2021 gonna be the best be positive,” she said on Instagram.

 

The 33 -year- old has featured in the All Africa Games since 2007 and has already booked her place the next Olympics in Tokyo.
