Okpara says Eaglets are similar to 80’s youth team

Ex- International, Godwin Okpara says Nigeria have a big chance to win her 6th U17 World Cup trophy but urged the players to concentrate and keep their heads down and not get carried away by their 4-2 comeback win heading into today’s 9pm game against Ecuador.

Okpara in a chat with Cornerstonenewsng.comencouraged the team to win the game today in order to move closer to the trophy “It’s a big test for Nigeria because Ecuador been a South-American nation have a similar style of play with African teams, we have same mentality so we should stick to the fast pace and intensive playing style against Ecuador”

Okpara who was impressed with Eaglets 2019 U17 opening game performance said ” we had a fantastic game, I couldn’t believe what I saw they played like the trophy was at stake, our Eaglets players are technically good which is what we had back in my days. If they can carry on with this display they will win the tournament but must remain focused and not get carried away.”

Golden Eaglets will look to book a spot in the Round of 16 when they take on Ecuador today at Estadio Olimpico Pedro Ludovico, 9pm in their second Group B game at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Nigeria and Ecuador are joint leader of Group B with three points, but the Africans are on top due to better goal difference.
