Osimhen Fails To Fire Lille Past Valencia

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was in action for 90 minutes as Lille held Spanish side, Valencia to a 1-1 draw at home in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League fixture.

After Group H rivals Chelsea had won Ajax in Amsterdam, Lille must beat Valencia to stay in contention for a round of the 16 qualifications.

But it was Denis Cheryshev who gave the visitors a lead they barely deserved in the 63rd minute at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

However, Lille continued to search for an equalizer that eventually came with the last kick of that game,  substitute Jonathan Ikone scored a dramatic late equalizer to earn Lille a draw against 10-man Valencia.

Jonathan Ikoné’s right footed shot from the center of the box went straight to the top right corner, following an assist from Benjamin André.

It was the first point for Christopher Galtier’s men in this season Champions League campaign.

Osimhen has scored one goal in three appearances for Lille in the competition.
