Osimhen speaks on the Peseiro-effect, New Goal Scorers and Staying Unbeaten

The Super Eagles produced one of the most ruthless attacking display in the history of the National Team in Monday’s 10-0 win against Sao Tome & Principe away from home in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and three players scored their first International goals.

A brace for Terem Moffi and one each from Ademola Lookman & Dennis Emmanuel inspired Nigeria’s biggest win in International football and teammate Victor Osimhen says the kudos is all down to new head Coach Jose Peseiro.
Osimhen himself netted a haul, adding two assists to the four goals which moves him top of the pile as top scorer in the qualifying campaign after matchday 2.
Nigeria’s victory against the small Island Nation also saw the Eagles climb to top of Group A, with back to back wins.
Speaking during the post-match presser in Agadir, Osimhen said the team carried out the Coach’s instructions to the T and the momentum can carry them on to sealing qualification for the 2023 AFCON without a defeat.
While his personal target is to keep scoring goals and helping the team win, the young Forward disclosed the Team’s objective is to steamroll through the qualifiers.
‘Firstly, I want to say congratulations to the whole team and of course a big kudos to the Coach; of all the instructions he gave to the team, I believe we carried out at least 80 or 90 percent of them,’ Osimhen remarked.
‘Of course, I’m happy to get four goals and I’m happy for my teammates that got their first goals; the likes of Lookman (Ademola), Moffi (Terem) and Dennis (Emmanuel).
‘There’s a big solidarity in the team and this is what the Coach has taught us and I believe that as a group we have the quality to build on this momentum.’
‘I want to keep on getting the goals for the team as well as the wins and I believe as each game comes we want to keep getting the three points, because it is important in this qualifying games.’
‘And we don’t want to lose any game because we have an objective and we want to keep moving forward.’
