There is fear and apprehension as eight security agents comprising of Soldiers,policemen, and the officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were shot dead by gunmen in Umualumaku community, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
The tragedy which occurred Tuesday morning , causing serious panick in the area ,as the gunmen did not stop at killing the victims, but they went a head to set the bodies and their two parol vehicles ablaze.
The joint security taskforce team were in two security trucks when they were ambushed and set ablaze by their attackers.
According to a senior Police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to speak with the press, none of security men survived as they were burnt inside their operational vehicles.
A youth leader Sam Nnaemeka ,said,” yes, we are panicking because the damage done to the security agents is too much. I know that they will come for represasl. When the security agents come back for represasl, they are going to attack innocent resident in the community. The community had been thrown into confusion, owing to the development”.
Our correspondent saw a video clip of the attack as the security agents set ablaze in the two vehicles.
Imo State Police Publlic Relations Officer( PPRO) Mr. Henry Okoye, confirmed the development,but asked for time to get the full details of the incident.
