“Players adapt differently” – Amunike backs under-fire Onuachu

Former Tanzania national team coach Emmanuel Amunike has backed lanky forward Paul Onuachu to adapt well into the super eagles team after receiving a heavy backlash from some fans after the Brazil, Nigeria friendly clash in Singapore.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with brila.net, Amunike stated that Onuachu has been impressive in his club side with Genk, in Belgium top flight league and should be given enough time to adapt into the super eagles team.
”We should know that players adapt differently, there are players who  takes time to adapt in the team quickly, you as a coach you have to be able to understand all these situation.
“As for Onuachu, he is doing well for his club in Genk, probably the national team is a different terrain for him, but sometimes you know, there are players that are good in their clubs but couldn’t adapt quickly with their national team, at times such a player needs time to adapt, he said.
Paul Onuachu scored on his debut game for Nigeria against Egypt in a test game in Asaba, and was in the team to the Afcon but couldn’t outshine the likes of the then number 9, Odion Ighalo and Oshimen at the nation’s cup.
