The Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) captured on video demanding bribe from a motorist.
The officer was seen in the video calling out his bank account details to the motorist for him to transfer money, before he would allow him to go on his way.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, identified the officer as ASP Luka Bashayi.
The PPRO said that the erring officer had been identified and investigation into the matter has already commenced.
“We will not gloss over this. He is ASP Luka Bashayi, serving at Ogudu Area Command.
“The Lagos Police Complaint Unit, CRU, has commenced actions on this,” the police image maker said.
In a video which went viral on Saturday, the police officer was seen demanding bribe from a motorist.
The officer insisted that the motorist would not leave unless he paid him the demanded bribe.
He said to the motorist, “Do sharp sharp and go now, if not, I will do my job.”
