The Abia State Police Command has arrested some members of the armed robbery gangs which engaged in robbery and killings of operators of banking transaction points of sale, otherwise known as POS outlets, in Aba.
The suspects were apprehended during surveillance by men of the state police Rapid Response Squad, following a tip-off on where they relocated to after committing the dastardly acts that led to the death of more than six persons and the loss of hundreds of millions of Naira between November 2020 and February, this year.
A reliable police source told Daily Sun that, after receiving orders from the state police high command, officers and men of the RRS led by CSP Johnbull Obioguru, began the massive hunt for the bandits, engaging in surveillance and stop and search activities in selected flashpoints across the state.
According to the source, while on the trail of the bandits, including those that burnt the Osisioma divisional police headquarters, the team got information leading to swooping in on some of the hideouts where they were arrested.
