Police nab NDLEA official with illicit drugs in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) official with 4 Kilogrammes of illicit substance, Marsh-Mallow, on the Lagos/Abeokuta Express road, Lagos.
The suspect was arrested at the weekend at Cement area of the state ,and was alleged to have confessrd to be on his way to sell the substance.
He was arrested by a team of policemen led by ASP Samuel Sunday,who was on a routine patrol on Saturday, August, 12,2023.

The suspect has named a senior official as the person who sent him on the mission.
However, the police said they would invite the senior official for questioning,but would go through official processes.
It was gathered that acting on instinct, the policemen who arrested the suspect ,requested to know what was concealed in his bag.
During the search, the policemen discovered that the suspect was carrying illicit drugs .
The suspechi Kelechi Chukeumerije, 50, and an indigene of Abia State, was attached to NDLEA office, First gate, Tin-Can Island, Lagos.
A senior Police officer told our correspondent that,” during interrogation, the suspect confessed that the 4 kilograms of illicit drugs known as Marsh -Mallow was given to him by his superior who he identified as Odogwu, to go and sell”.
Sources further hinted that the superior mentioned by the suspect would be invited to clarify the allegatiin, as part of the ongoing investigation.
When contacted, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hudenyin confirmed the arrest.
