The police have arrested Chika Christopher Abalake, 42, from Umuokochi Umueziawula, Ihiagwa, in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, and Uchenna Jude, 25, from Umuakuntu in Ngor Local Government Area of the state, for allegedly raping 11-year-old Anurika Onyemetu.
Abalake and Uchenna, who were said to be friends, deflowered the minor, Anurika Onyemetu from Umudagu Ntu in Ngor Okpala LGA.
Sources from the suspects’ community, said the young girl, who had been living with her father, on several occasions was pounced on by the suspects constantly and had carnal knowledge of her without the knowledge of the father who was said to have gone to work. However, the father was said to have noticed what was going on when the little girl complained of pain in her private part, which led the father to report to the police.
Imo State Police Publlic Relations Officer ( PPRO) Henry Okoye, said the command has commenced investigation following the father’s report of the incident.
He said: “The two suspects who allegedly severally had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor in her father’s house any time he went to work, are cooling their heels at the division’s custody, where preliminary investigation is ongoing. Subsequently, they will be transferred to SCIID Owerri for continuation of a discreet investigation.
Meanwhile, he added that medical reports revealed that the victim has severe injury in her vulva as a result of defilement; and the minor, he also said, has opened up to her father and the police, narrating how the suspects defiled her repeatedly.
