PSG’s Katoto dropped from French squad for 2019 World Cup

France coach Corinne Diacre has revealed her squad for the women’s World Cup held on home soil this summer, omitting the French league’s top scorer Marie-Antoinette Katoto, brila.net reports. 

The team gaffer Corine Dacre released the list on Friday morning to kick off the final preparation of the team.
France are grouped in group A alongside African champions super falcons of Nigeria, Korea Republic and former champions Norway.

Below is the list of 23 players called up for the World Cup, which runs through June 7-July 7.

 

Goalkeepers: Sarah Bouhaddi (Lyon), Solène Durand (Guingamp), Pauline Peyraud-Magnin (Arsenal)

Defenders: Julie Debever (Guingamp), Sakina Karchaoui (Montpellier), Amel Majri (Lyon), Griedge Mbock Bathy (Lyon), Eve Périsset (PSG), Wendie Renard (Lyon), Marion Torrent (Montpellier), Aïssatou Tounkara (Atlético Madrid).

Midfielders: Charlotte Bilbault (Paris FC), Elise Bussaglia (Dijon), Maeva Clemaron (FC Fleury), Grace Geyoro (PSG), Amandine Henry (Lyon), Gaëtane Thiney (Paris FC)

Attackers: Viviane Asseyi (Bordeaux), Delphine Cascarino (Lyon), Kadidiatou Diani (PSG), Valérie Gauvin (Montpellier), Emelyne Laurent (Guingamp), Eugénie Le Sommer (Lyon)

Nigeria Super Falcons has appeared in all Fifa women world cup will take on France in the final group game.
The last time the two teams met was in April 2018 and it was a bad day for the super falcons of Nigeria who suffered a whitewash of 8-0 to the French side.
However, the Super Falcons of Nigeria coach, Thomas Dennerby has said that he will be releasing his final list on the 24th of May after the WAFU competition in Abidjan Cote d’Ivoire ended.
