Quadri fancy Club ‘Sporting’ to reach last eight of ETTU Champions League

The Nigerian duo of Aruna Quadri and Bode Abiodun will be hope to be on the winning side as their Portuguese club Sporting visits France’s AS Pontoise Cergy in  European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) Champions League on Saturday.

Quadri and Abiodun’s Sporting club lies in the third position In Group A after three games so far in the tournament, recording one home victory and two away defeats. Other teams in the group are  Germany’s Borussia Dusseldorf, Czech Republic’s TTC Ostrava 2016 and Frecn champion – AS Pontoise Cergy.

 

Defending champions, Borussia Dusseldorf tops the group with six points, a point separating them from second place AS Pontoise Cergy with, while Sporting of Portugal are third with four points while Czech’s TTC Ostrava 2016 occupies the four place.

 

Quadri is optimistic about the chances of his team of reaching the quarter-final but admits that his side is feeling the absence of captain Jaoa Monteiro who’s likely to miss the rest of the year to injury

 

“I must tell you that all the teams in the group are capable of advancing to the quarterfinal of the tournament but you have to be at your best.

 

“We tried our best in previous matches but we were most times unlucky to have lost some matches. But we are bent on getting back to winning ways as we will be playing away to French and former Champions League champion tomorrow,” he concluded.
